Exotic Pet Care: We Help Animals, Large and Small

Exotic Pet Care

Most of our patients are of the canine and feline variety, but our veterinary staff is skilled and experienced in the care of exotic pets, or pocket pets, too. Birds, reptiles, rabbits, guinea pigs; you name it and chances are we’ve seen it.

We treat the pocket pets and exotic animals that come into our hospital with the same compassionate care as the dogs and cats we see. Here are some basic guidelines of how to utilize our services for particular pets:

Gerbils

Gerbils benefit from a yearly checkup just like any other house pet. They thrive on pellet food, fresh water, and daily cleaning of their cage. Make sure your children know that the lifespan of a gerbil is only about 3 years to prevent unnecessary surprise.

Rabbits

Rabbits benefit from a yearly checkup just like any other house pet. We recommend spaying and neutering rabbits, just like you would a dog or cat. This should happen when they are about 4 months old.

Guinea Pigs

Guinea pigs benefit from a yearly checkup just like any other house pet. We can show you how to safely clip his or her nails, which will need to be done every 6-8 weeks.
